    Bureau Veritas in INDIA…

     

    Ø Bureau Veritas was present in India prior to 1947 with non-executive offices at Kolkata, Mumbai & Chennai.
    Ø Exclusive India office opened in 1973.
    Ø Marine and Industry Survey Stations were commissioned  at Vishakhapattanam, New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai & Pune from 1973.
    Ø Bureau Veritas Industrial Services India Pvt. Ltd. (BVIS) was formed in 1988.
    Ø Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI)India  was established in December 2002
    Ø BVQI India  re-named as Bureau Veritas Certification (India) Private Limited in September 2006.

     

    Bureau Veritas India with its team of over 900 employees, 40 offices and laboratories is fully geared up to cater to the most demanding requirements.

     

    Bureau Veritas Global…

     

    Ø Bureau Veritas was founded in Antwerp, Belgium in 1828.
    Ø In 1829, the company was renamed Bureau Veritas and adopted the emblem of Truth as its official logo and edited its first Register of some 10,000 ships.
    Ø In 1833 the head office was transferred from Antwerp to Paris, where a branch office was set up in 1830.
    Ø In 1869  The company was quoted in Jules Verne novel - “20,000 Leagues under the Sea”.
    Ø In 1874  The company was quoted in Jules Verne novel - “The Mysterious Island”.
    Ø In 1875  The company was quoted in Jules Verne novel - “The Survivors of the Chancellor”.
    Ø In 1910 a new service was created, "Control of Materials".
    Ø The name “Bureau Veritas” entered both the French dictionary Larousse and Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)
    Ø In 1922, the French government entrusted Bureau Veritas with the official control of airworthiness certificates for civil aircraft.
    Ø Bureau Veritas created a Automobile service to check buses, coaches and trucks in 1927.
    Ø In 1929 it established the "Control Service for Buildings & Civil Engineering".
    Ø By 1932 Bureau Veritas had established its own laboratories at Levallois-Perret near Paris for metallurgical and chemical analysis, and the testing of building materials.
    Ø Between 1980 and 1990 Bureau Veritas set up a number of new subsidiaries in response to specific needs.            
          Ø Bivac - In 1984  
          Ø BVQI - Now Bureau Veritas Certification - 1988,             
          Ø Veritas Auto - 1990.
    Ø In 1995, two new corporate shareholders, CGIP and Poincaré Investissement, injected fresh impetus into Bureau Veritas activities.Wendel makes initial investment in Bureau Veritas in 1995.
    Ø 1996 was an important year with a significant merger in France: Bureau Veritas acquired 100 per cent of CEP capital and became the French leader in conformity assessment of building construction.
    Ø The acquisition of well-established US firm with testing labs in Asia - ACTS (Acts Testing Labs) in 1998.
    Ø The acquisition of well-established US firm with testing labs in Asia - MTL (Merchandise Testing Laboratories) in 2001.
    Ø Acquisition of the Weeks group (UK) in 2002.
    Ø Integration of US laboratories in 2003.
    Ø Wendel gets full control of Bureau Veritas in 2004.
    Ø Acquisition of Berryman & Henigar and Graham Marcus (US) in early 2004.
    Ø Acquisition in early 2005 of Linhart Petersen Powers Associates (US).
    Ø In 2005, the acquisition of Clayton and NATLSCO (US).
    Ø In the 2005 acquisition of Casella (UK).
    Ø In 2006 Kilpatrik (Australia) was acquired.
    Ø In 2006 IRC (Australia) was acquired.
    Ø In 2006 Intico (Australia) was acquired.
    Ø IPO in 2007.
    Ø Mining Activity started in 2008.
