What is the World Food Safety Day?

Jun. 3 2022

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced the theme for the 2022 World Food Safety Day, “Safer food, better health,” and launched the campaign to inspire global participation.

The campaign stresses the need to transform food systems to deliver better health in a sustainable manner to prevent most foodborne diseases. Food systems policy-makers, businesses, and investors are invited to reorient their activities to increase the sustainable production and consumption of safe foods to improve health outcomes.

Foodborne diseases affect 1 in 10 people worldwide each year. There are over 200 of these diseases - some mild, but others deadly. To work on reducing those numbers the call to action is clear for the food industry: Comply with international food standards and engage employees, suppliers and other stakeholders to grow and develop a food safety culture through education.

Bureau Veritas is actively engaged in this journey to shape a world of trust supporting the industry through the entire food value chain on their food safety journey. With over a thousand of food safety experts worldwide we can build the bridge to food safety assurance with testing, inspection and certification
