FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor Ver. 6.0 - Virtual Training Course
OBJECTIVES
PR 375: CQI and IRCA Certified FSSC 22000 Version 6.0 Lead Auditor Training Course (2700)
This course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third-party audits of food safety management systems against the FSSC 22000 scheme, in accordance with ISO 19011, ISO 22003-1 and ISO 17021-1, as applicable. The scheme includes ISO 22000, sector specific requirements (ISO/TS 22002-x series) and FSSC 22000 additional requirements. All references in this document to ISO standards are to the current versions unless stated otherwise. Delegates who complete this CQI and IRCA Certified FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor Training course successfully (within the three years prior to making an application to become a certificated auditor) will satisfy the training requirements for initial certification as a CQI-IRCA Certificated FSSC auditor.
WHO THE COURSE IS FOR?
PREREQUISITES
- Completion of secondary education. An understanding of report writing is desirable.
- Experience in the food chain and the principles used there (HACCP, GMP, GAP, legislation…)
- An understanding of relevant key food safety legislation & pre-requisite programmes.
- Recommend Prior Knowledge:
a) Management Systems – Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle
- The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review, and continual improvement.
b) Food Safety Management
- A knowledge of the principles of food safety management including prerequisite programmes as specified in ISO/TS 22002-x series and HACCP.
- The relationship between food safety management and the provision of safe food products to prevent or minimise adverse effects on human health and the proactive improvement of food safety performance.
- Awareness of common examples of relevant national and local FSMS legislation and requirements
- The role of ISO 22003-1 in food management system certification
- Awareness of the food chain categories and sub-categories in ISO 22003-1.
Note: a) and b) can be obtained through attending a CQI and IRCA Certified FD128 ISO 22000:2018 Foundation (FSMS) Training course.
FSSC 22000
Knowledge of the requirements of FSSC 22000 and Annexes (all parts) and the commonly used food safety management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 22000 and in FSSC 22000 Appendix 1.

- Food safety management systems standards
- Business benefits of the improved performance of the food safety management system
- The roles and responsibilities of an auditor to plan, conduct, conclude, report and follow-up a Food safety management system audit in accordance with FSSC 22000, ISO 22003-1, ISO 17021- 1, and the guidelines in ISO 19011.
- The purpose of and differences between first-party, second-party and third-party certification audit of management systems, including the role of the FSSC auditor in evaluating an organisation’s ability to achieve the intended results of its food safety management system.
- The role of accreditation bodies and the benefits of third-party accredited certification of food safety management systems for organisations and interested parties
- Practical Exercises and Feedback.
Course Benefits
On successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- Audit an FSMS as per the requirements of FSSC 22000 v 6 certification scheme including ISO 22000:2018, and ISO/TS 22002 (all parts) standards.

- Plan an audit against a set of audit criteria
- Successfully execute a Food Safety Management System audit.
